New Update at the end of the article. 15/3/24
Well, that was a close call. We are actively working to increase our reach in the Wedding events industry and are at the beginning of a new path along that line. Out of the blue, we got a call from ukbride.co.uk. The site claims to be a very popular platform for brides to be. It certainly looks the part on their website and Facebook groups. So this cold call was trying to get us to sign up immediately over the phone (which we never do) however, the idea was appealing. Greatly reduced marketing rates across three areas of our business over a 50-mile radius from our base to potentially thousands of couples.
What's not to love? Quite a lot as it happens...
The most wonderful time of year
- Details
That time is nearly upon us! It's literally a couple of weeks away from crazy season and truly, we cannot wait! By far our busiest end of year ever, we are almost entierly booked up right until Christmas. With plenty of Firework Shows, Laser Shows and Christmas celebrations to come, it's going to be a non-stop ride right up until the new year!
A moment of reflection, u-turns and other updates - Who is EVEPLA?
- Details
Since the King's Coronation it's been an intense ride! Busy being the main word. We really look at our business as having been rebooted and reset to zero (negative really - those bounce back loans will be here for a while yet) during the Covid pandemic, but its been absolutely fantastic to see the post pandemic rebuild as we continue to grow and attract new amazing customers and carry out some truly amazing jobs.
Naturally the 'B' word comes up a LOT in the events world. As musicians, production companies, tours all try to navigate the complete mess that is 'B', but thats not really the...
Some good news
- Details
The last few years have seen mind-blowing price rises in shipping costs around the world. The knock-on of this has been felt in every industry but no more so than Fireworks with the price of shipping a single container from China costing in excess of £30K when before Covid it was less than half that. This won't have a direct impact for a while as existing UK stocks from suppliers will have to be sold off before the price drops will be felt, but its great news for us and our customers knowing at least for now the price of our fireworks shows won't keep jumping up so much.
New website updates.
- Details
There is very active development on the website and our IT infrastructure at the moment. All to often company websites stagnate and die, but as social media evolves with TikTok being the current trend (we have just joined!) the humble website is still very relevant.
So our first step has been very much the back end. This very site you are reading is now hosted on our brand new Dell Server, one with 40 cores, 192GB of ram and 50TB of storage no less! We call this the Fusion Cloud. This server with it's huge amount of redundant resources allows us to do all kind of clever things wherever we are.
Step two has been developing the website. Whilst it would be lovely to have a super polished website by an external web developer, that just would divert too much of our resources for now. And in any case we still have to provide all the content anyway, so may as well just do it in house. This will improve over time with the current plan to add 2-3 new pages a week, the most recent being on the crazy world of Laser Safety (or lack thereof). We are also looking to introduce an online shop for event consumables, and now with our extra work space start adding photos and videos of our own services and products.
New year and time to grow
- Details
We moved into our current premises in 2020 just as Covid hit. What bad timing. :( We did however manage to survive that storm and 2022 was by far our best year to date. So what for 2023? We have been spending the last couple of months analysing what we did well and where we need to improve. There is *always* room to improve, no matter how good you think you are. Efficient use of time is critical to a business success, for a company like us that means being able to get what you need quickly and efficiently when it comes to preparing kit for jobs. This had become a struggle, with huge lack of space to work.
We needed more space.
We also needed development space, room to refine, train and expand the knowledge and skills of all our crew. To allow us to create more hands on experience and just as importantly allow us to demonstrate to potential clients what we can offer. We are now absolutely delighted to say this is now a reality. In January 2023 we relocated our Warehouse and have now got office space to do all the things we so desperately needed and couldn't before. We are now chefs with our own dedicated kitchen, and the benefits of this will soon be immediately apparent.
We have always grown purely on organic growth. That is a wonderful solid foundation for any business, but we are able to do so much more. 2023 sees changes here as well. We have a plan to market and introduce what we offer in a much more direct way. This is new to us, and will be fascinating to see how it works out and what we learn along the way - mistakes included!
Welcome to 2023. The real fun is only just about to begin!
Guy Fawkes 2022
- Details
We are at the end of our Fireworks season for 2022, and what a season it's been! This year we have done the most, and the biggest fireworks shows we have ever done, including a massive private 'garden' (hardly does it justice} display. Along with this we did several Laser shows in place of fireworks to great success. Now we are onto the final hurdle of Christmas events before things calm down a whole lot in the new year. Time for a quick rest!
Fireworks Competition Winners!
- Details
Wow! What an unexpected turn of events! We entered our first-ever firework competition in September '22. Being our first competition we really didn't expect to win, but incredibly we absolutely smashed it taking more points for our display than the other two combined! We are now an award-winning firework display company!
25 years? Well kind of!
- Details
Recently an old photo resurfaced of some of our staff! This one all the way back from 1997 where Ed and Nathan were honing their DJ skills! 2022 and 25 years later they are still working together although now with a few more speakers than back in the 90's!
College Lighting
- Details
Another lighting job. This time at a North East London College. The brief was to cover the front of the building in lights to celebrate the end of the year. For this, we used our wireless GDS HO up-lighters. Very quick to deploy and remotely controllable. It looked fantastic!
Guy Fawkes 2021
- Details
Right in the middle of the madness of Guy Fawkes 2021. This setup controls a pyromusical display at a local school. This school in particular now has grown this event so well its by far their largest fundraising event of the year, attracting several thousand spectators, and is a firm regular on our calendar!
Projectors and Summer sport events
- Details
The summer of 21 in-between lockdowns has been fantastic for projector hires. Here we hired a projector for a movie/birthday night, but the customer was so pleased they decided to extend the hire to watch some sports with their friends the next day!
Afraid of heights?
- Details
We were contracted to provide lighting for a Topping Out Ceremony for One Thames City, Vauxhall London. This delicate job involved a skilled crew of lighting technicians performing a time coded lighting show on Grand MA2 hardware under the strict health and safety rules of a busy construction site. Naturally it went without a hitch and was a great one for our portfolio!
Virtual Christmas Lights
- Details
With Covid putting stop to yet more events, we donated our time and skills to the Warlingham Christmas lights turn on to produce a virtual turn on event video. This was streamed live on the 25th Nov 2020. It was a team effort between us and the Warlingham Christmas Lights committee and the filming was achieved within the ever changing Covid restrictions.
Major PA upgrade
- Details
Fusion has taken a huge step forward in what we can offer in terms of PA systems. We now stock Void Stasys X V2 which are absolutely phenomenal in output and quality. Used on tours, in live venues and in world-class entertainment venues all around the world, we now have enough in stock for systems upto 30,000watts.
Surprise Birthday!
- Details
What a fantastic 'bubble' gathering! This weekend we setup a surprise outdoor cinema in Tonbridge, Kent using our 150 inch screen and NEC professional projector, complemented with our discrete Void Acoustics PA system. The aim as a surprise 30th birthday, we set the cinema up in a small clearing behind an open field on a customers farm. The surprise was kept secret until the evening got dark, when everyone moved into the little enclosed space for a surprise cinema evening!
Lasers are cool!
- Details
Lasers are amazing! The pureness of the beams and the speed at which they can move almost makes them look unreal. We thought we would have a go at taking some pictures or our own lasers, as you can see here. The little sparkles of colour are raindrops. That sadly prevented us from going much further, but it's worth mentioning that we keep in stock Pangolin Laser control systems and a range of lasers up to 3.3 watts, with others available on request.
Note, since this was published we now have a much wider range of Lasers!
Lockdown Parties
- Details
With so many events cancelling, people are turning to their own gardens to put on mini-lockdown events instead. So this has been an area we have been concentrating on. Today we hired out some of our wireless up lighters, a 4.5x3m gazebo, and a 55-inch 4K monitor with Void speakers for a small opera night in Epsom, Surrey.
Clap for NHS
- Details
Looking back at 2020, During the peak of the lockdown, we were asked by some of our Event friends if we could help them with some pyrotechnics for a "Clap for Carers" 'event'. This was to be a small roof installation of single shot pyrotechnics scripted to two audio tracks (we will upload these when we get a chance). It was a humbling affair, and very much a social distancing one.
Warlingham Christmas Lights
- Details
One of our regular ones, and one we entirely volunteer our services to. This annual Christmas lights turn-on happens in Warlingham, Tandridge, Surrey. It attracts several thousand people each year, and before we got involved the stage area used to be lit with fluorescent or flood lights! Not exactly 'Christmas' and being local we decided we had to help, and now we keep being invited back every year!
